Hello. Thank you for visiting my website. As you are here I assume you’d like to know one or two things about me and my books.
I was born in 1959 in Faversham, Kent and was brought up by my grandparents. I now live in a quiet, lovely little village called Middle Rasen in Lincolnshire.
I am now retired, but worked for Lloyds Bank for 20 years before having a complete career change. I moved into education and began by supporting students with learning difficulties in a secondary school before moving to a further education college to work with young adults with severe learning difficulties. This was both challenging and very rewarding.
I enjoy reading various genres including mysteries and ghost stories, such as MR James and the Sherlock Holmes stories, which captured my imagination as a child. My favourite book was, and still is, The Wind in the Willows. I love its innocent charm and enjoy it just as much now as I did all those years ago.
I was taught to read by my grandparents and enjoyed visiting my local library, where I discovered the books I have mentioned, in addition to authors such as HG Wells and Ian Fleming.
Although I enjoyed creative writing at school I didn’t continue with it immediately on leaving.
However, a few years later I sent a short story in to a magazine and was published, much to my amazement! This was followed by having my account of the London leg of Madonna's Girlie Show published in her own Los Angeles based fan magazine Icon. Shortly after this came my idea for my first book, A Far Cry from Summer, and after many abortive attempts and numerous rewrites, I finally got to do the story justice (I hope!) when, in 2013, I published it with PublishNation.
My 'Witches of Marston Dornie' series of books are about present day witches, known collectively as The Sisterhood and their centuries old persecution by the witch hunters. There are several constant characters in the series, including Claire Darblay, a high ranking Elder within The Sisterhood and her partner and closest friend, Rosalind. Two sisters, Lorelei and Lani Sasdy, are The Witches of Marston Dornie. They are respected Elders who others turn to when they are in trouble or need help and advice.
In my third book, The Light from Winter Dark, I introduced January Grant, who has become a major character in the series. I've grown to love January and I hope my readers will too.
My latest book, 'That's Where You'll Find Her', is my first stand-alone, full length novel and tells the story of long-time friends, Mattie and Lucy, and a young woman, Sarah, who lived centuries ago but who has influenced the present day lives of both women in a way neither could imagine.
I live with Jenny, my partner of over 30 years, our little dog, Kimi and cat, Poppy. I often get new ideas for my books during long walks in the peace and quiet of the countryside that surrounds our home.
